Dr. Van Loon graduated with his Doctorate in Optometry from The Ohio State University in 1997.  He has been seeing patients at Blustin Optical Center in Duluth and Two Harbors since graduating, ultimately purchasing the practice in 2005.  He is dedicated to patient care and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure his patients' ocular health.  Dr. Derin is a Hermantown native and a military veteran, a submariner who served on a nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine for six years, and then served two years in the Naval Reserve.  He is proud to have served his country and is now equally happy to serve his community.
